product description

1965 Gibson Melody Maker D - Cherry incl. tweed hardshell case

1965 Gibson Melody Maker D - Cherry in very good condition for its age. This is the desireable two pickup version, all original except for changed tuners (orig. Grovers) and the tremolo-unit has been removed. The guitar has some play-wear, typical for a 54(!) year old instrument, but no damages or hidden repairs, the beautiful cherry finish hasn´t faded much and still is bright in color. It´s a full scale version with a scale-lenght of 625 mm, the solid 1-piece mahogany neck has a big c-profile and a full 43mm nut width. Untouched electronics, the 4 pots are all codes dating them to 1965 and the pickups have outputs of 6,98K and 7,02K. It's a lightweight fun axe with only 2.63kg of pure old wood with beautiful mahogany grain visible through the cherry finish. It's an awesome sounding and playing wide neck guitar that's still a bargain! Comes incl. newer tweed hardshell case.
